Obituary for Constance M. Mullaney
Constance (Cahney) M. Mullaney, 50, joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Monday, July 24, 2017 following an 11 month battle against uterine Leiomyosarcoma.
Cahney was born to the late Charles J. Mullaney and Renate (Eckstein) Mullaney on August 23, 1966 in Willimantic, CT.
Cahney was a graduate of the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL and of the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Newington, CT.
Filled with love, light, and spirit, Cahney sought to heal broken bodies, and souls through her work as a massage therapist. Where most massage therapists have clients, Cahney worked on her friends. She found her dream job when she was awarded the contract to work as a massage therapist at Busch Gardens in Tampa. Her “kids”, the park performers, bruised and sore, were grateful for her experienced and therapeutic touch. She in turn was transformed and healed daily by their energy, resilience, and spirit. It was her collective group of friends, and the Lord, that kept her going through her battle against cancer.
As a believer, and follower of Jesus Christ, spiritual life was always an integral part of Cahney’s persona. One of her life defining experiences was a pilgrimage to Međugorje, Bosnia/Herzegovina. She believed suffering was an integral part of the christian walk, and bravely bore the suffering she endured as unto the Lord.
She will be remembered by her mother, Renate Mullaney, sister, Robin Mullaney Schade, brother-in-law, Nick Schade, brother Mark Mullaney, sister-in-law, Krista (Cosentino) Mullaney, her beloved nephews, Charles and Joshua Mullaney, her aunt, Isabella Vernon, cousin Larysa Vernon, and countless extended family and friends. Her father, Charles J. Mullaney, pre-deceased her six days earlier on July 18, 2017.
A mass in her remembrance will be held in Tampa in late August. Additional details concerning the mass, as well as a celebration of life service, will be made available through Cahney’s YouCaring.com site, and her private Facebook page.
There will be a private burial at St. Joseph’s cemetery in Willimantic, CT.
Those who so desire, may make donations in her honor to the Leiomyosarcoma Direct Research Foundation, Post Office Box 52697, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74152; lmsdr.org, or Center for Hospice Care Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360; www.hospicesect.org.
