Obituary for Esther K. Snow
Norfolk, VA - Esther Kaminske Snow, 95 passed away July 7, 2018 at Bayside Health & Rehab. She was born in Norwich, CT October 25, 1922 the daughter of Richard and Josephine (Dudkowski) Kaminske. A resident of Norfolk since 1964, Esther began her career in Civil Service in 1942 at the U.S. Submarine Base in Groton, CT. Over the years she was employed at Naval Station Key West, FL, Naval Air Maintenance Training Detachment, Virginia Beach, VA and Fleet Training Center, Norfolk, VA. Esther retired from the Fleet Training Center in May 1990 after 31 years with the Department of Defense. During her years in Civil Service, she received 2 of the Navy's Meritorious Civilian Service Awards - 1946 at the Sub Base in Groton, CT and upon retirement from Fleet Training Center, Norfolk, VA. Esther received various other awards through the years. In her early years, she was an active leader with the Girl Scouts of America and an Eagle Scout. While she was living in Italy, Esther visited the Girl Scout chalet in Adelboden, Switzerland. She was a communicant of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, an active member of the Catholic Daughters Court 1212, the Polish American Society of Tidewater and the Cape Henry Audobon Society. Esther's passions were bird watching, bowling, dancing and traveling which enabled her to visit many countries around the world. She was an excellent seamstress, knitter and cook. Esther is survived by her brother Howard Kaminske, Sr. and his wife Betty of Ledyard, CT, nephews and nieces Matthew Kaminske and his wife Wendy and children of Byfield, MA, Debra Kaminske of Ledyard, CT, Renee D'Elia and her husband Leonard and children Marc and Laura of Norwich, CT, Howard Kaminske, Jr., and many friends who will cherish her memory. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother James Kaminske, her sister Mildred (Kaminske) Bernier, and her nephew Barry Kaminske. All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church 156 Providence St. Taftville, CT Saturday July 21st at 10:00 am. Burial of cremains to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. goderefuneralhome.com
