Obituary for Flora Mae Delorme
Flora Mae Delorme passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, January 20, 2021 at St. Joseph Living Center in Windham. She was born in Norwich on June 9, 1930 with her twin sister Irene Fae, daughters of the late Ernest and Flora (Lambert) Benjamin. She was joined in holy matrimony to the love of her life, Philip Armand Delorme on April 19, 1954 at St. Mary’s Church in Jewett City. They were married for 43 years before he passed away too soon on December 4, 1997. She embraced her husband’s military career life, moving to new duty stations every 1-2 years both in the US and abroad in England and the Philippines, finally settling in Norwich in 1972. She was a long-time communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Taftville. She was the consummate homemaker and mother to their three daughters. She was skilled at many crafts such as basket-weaving, card-making, wool felt penny rugs, knitting, and punch-needle, and liked to give the finished products to family and friends. She was happy gardening and baking and especially enjoyed sharing tins of homemade cookies at Christmas. She always said yes to going shopping, to seeing a play at a local theatre or going to the movies, and of course dinner out. Her favorite thing, though, was to spend time with her family and friends - at cookouts, weddings, birthdays, weekends, when her grandsons asked her out to dinner, taking trips to Pennsylvania to catch up with Monique and her granddaughters, celebrating the birth of her great-grandchildren, vacations and cruises, class reunions with her twin sister, crafting and tea parties with friends. She enjoyed it all so much!

Flora Mae is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Denise and Gregory Stone of Jewett City, Therese and Raymond Brehant, Jr. of Lisbon, and Monique and Paul LaBarge of Cochranville PA; grandson Brian Stone of Brooklyn NY; grandson Kevin Stone and his wife Heather and their children Elora Vivienne and Dylan Armand of Muncie IN; granddaughter Danielle Showalter, her husband Jesse and their children Jesse Spencer and Bethany Mae of Christiana PA; granddaughter Sarah LaBarge of Cochranville PA; sister Irene Fae Medick of Canterbury; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by 3 brothers, Earl, James, and Ernest, Jr., and 2 sisters Lillian DeRusha and Ida Bernat.
