She was predeceased by her siblings, Douglas D. Moss, Pamela A. Forsythe and Jane A. Opie. She graduated from Windham High School in 1960, and married her high school sweetheart, Allen C. Powell, who predeceased her in 2015. They were married 55 years. She graduated from Eastern Connecticut State College in 1974, and was a Probation Officer for the State of CT until her retirement. She is survived by her son Edson D. Powell and his wife Jayne of Westerly, R.I., her daughter Margaret DeBari and her husband Michael of Preston, CT., her granddaughter Christie Culver and her husband Tim of Niles, MI., her grandson Jason Powell of Jacksonville, Fla., her grandsons Andrew A. Doucette of North Berwick, Me., Cody J. Doucette and his wife Erica of Norwell, Mass., and Matthew A. Doucette and his wife Caitlin of Queensbury, N.Y. She also leaves behind her three step Grandchildren, Johanna DeBari and Jack White of Andover, CT., Benjamin DeBari and Jason Cheung of Bethlehem, PA., and Mikaela DeBari of Manchester CT., as well as seven great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Leigh took an early interest in researching her roots, and was noted to have descended from some of the earliest families to settle in New England, including the Mayflower. She enjoyed traveling and cruises to many tropical locations, especially St John, camping in her motorhome and sailing around New England with her husband. She took much pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. Her constant companions in her later years were her beloved Yorkies, Cherie and Molly. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Pendleton Health and Rehab, and to Masonicare Hospice, both of Mystic, for their compassionate and loving care during the final months of her life.  Donations in her memory can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association. Calling hours will be Friday August 6, 2021 at 10-11:30 am at Godere Funeral Home 21 N 2nd Ave, Taftville, CT, followed by burial at Avery-Stoddard Cemetery, 202 Stoddards Wharf Rd Gales Ferry, CT.
