Obituary for Mark S. Ouimet
Mark S. Ouimet, 63, loving husband, son, brother, stepfather, uncle,
and godfather, passed away on September 21, 2021. He was born in Norwich on June 5, 1958 to Martin Ouimet Sr., and Rita (Neveu) Ouimet. Mark attended Sacred Heart School in Taftville and Norwich Regional Vocational Technical High School. Mark’s entire career was as a highly skilled welder well known to be amongst the most talented in his field as a structural iron worker. He was a member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers and certified by the American Welding Society. Mark’s physical and mental strength enabled him to handle tasks with ease that most would consider difficult or impossible. He was greatly respected by all who had the opportunity to work alongside him.
He is survived by his wife and love of his life Patricia Solomakos and step children Jody Amaral, Charles Amaral, and Billy Soderberg, father Martin Ouimet Sr. and mother Rita Ouimet of Lady Lake, FL, sister Laura of Lady Lake, FL, brothers Martin Jr. (Ruth) of Norwich, David of Noank, Bryan (Andrea) of Lisbon, and Paul (Bernadette) of Taftville
along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mark was predeceased by his brother Stephen. Mark’s passions were deeply rooted in music. He had an innate ability to recognize a wide range of recording artists that would lift your soul to an elevated space and experience. If you were lucky enough, you could have sat with him while he took you to
a special place via his large collection of tunes using his incredible sound equipment. He also enjoyed weight lifting as well as cars and motorcycles. Amongst all his vehicles his favorites were his 1966 Dodge Charger 383 4 speed and his Harley Davidson 883
Sportster. Ultimately, Mark was happiest while spending time with his beloved Pat. Mark’s family and friends remember him as a strong man with a big heart. His extraordinary humor and smile were his unique way of showing love. He will be forever missed and loved by all. Funeral and burial services are private.
