Obituary for Nikolai "Nik" Marchenkoff
Nikolai (Nik) Marchenkoff passed away on Saturday March 5, 2022, at the age 64. Nik was born in Norwich, CT on September 5, 1957, to Bud & Arline Marchenkoff. Nik loved cooking and was a chef for over 40 years, his completely adlibbed bouillabaisse was phenomenal. His meticulousness in the kitchen could be annoying, apparently there’s only one way to cut potatoes, but the food was always wonderful.
Nik was a good and loving person, and in the words of the poet, Ian Anderson, “Life’s a Long Song, but the tune ends too soon for us all.” The tune may not have ended too soon for Nik; his tune ended too soon for those of us that loved him, for the family and friends he leaves behind. Nik will be greatly missed but remembered every time the umpire calls out “Play ball!” at Fenway Park.
Nik is survived by his wife Karen, son Tim, daughter Jenna, son-in-law John Banker, grandson Miles, sister Val and brothers Greg and Jay, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral arrangements are private.
