Obituary for Paul Emile Brault
Paul Emile Brault, 96, of Norwich passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Living Center in Windham on October 26, 2022. Born in Woonsocket, RI, Paul was the son of the late Aldea (Dubois) and Alphonse Brault.
He was raised in Providence, RI and attended St. Charles Elementary School and graduated from La Salle Academy in 1944. After high school, Paul served his country in World War II in the US Air Force as a Ham Radio Operator, 1944-1946. He returned home to pursue a career as a carpenter.
On April 22, 1950 he married Françoise C. Bergeron of Woonsocket, RI. They made Providence their home until they settled in Taftville, CT in 1964. There they raised their five children and shared many happy family celebrations together. Paul worked for Electric Boat for 27 years as a carpenter until his retirement in 1991. He was a master craftsman/designer preferring wood as his medium. He was a DIYer long before it was fashionable to be one. Paul also was an avid gardener, reader, and enjoyed making puzzles.
Paul is survived by his daughters Constance Scharff (William) of Coatesville, PA; Denise Curran of Griswold, CT; Lucie Pupillo (Mark) of Norwich, CT; Anita Carrano (Michael) of Coventry, CT; and son Daniel Brault (Diane) of Guilford, CT. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife, Fran, and siblings, Therese Bergeron and Sister Gertrude Brault.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 9:30 am at Godere Funeral Home in Taftville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, Taftville. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
