Obituary for Richard A. Baribeault

Richard A. Baribeault, 83, of Oakdale, born April 9, 1939, in Norwich, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center. He was the son of the late Robert W. Baribeault Sr. and Blanche (Adams) Baribeault.

He was predeceased by brothers Robert W. Baribeault of Jewett City, Roger O. (aka Joe) Baribeault of Lisbon and sisters Bertha (Betty) J. Baribeault and Barbara L. (Lawton, Buzon) Baribeault of Oakdale.

He is survived by his brother Raymond L. Baribeault Sr. of North Franklin as well as many nieces and nephews.

He leaves his daughters with Linda Carpenter Baribeault, Michelle Gignac and husband Maurice of Norwich, Sandra Ruiz and husband Joseph of Colchester and Melanie McClure of Manchester as well as grandchildren, Morgan and Michael Gignac, Tamara Cintron, Cayla and Sydney Ruiz, Shayne and Lee Wilson and Heather McClure as well as seven great grandchildren.

Dickie served in the Army National Guard from 1956 – 1963. He was employed by Ottawa Silica Company as a miner for approximately 30 years until they closed to build Foxwoods Casino. He was later employed by Mohegan Sun. He was a very dedicated employee who rarely missed a day of work.

In his younger days, Dickie enjoyed riding his motorcycle and getting into mischief with his brother-in-law King Carpenter. He was very close to his sisters who all lived together in Oakdale for the past few years and was very saddened by their passing in April and June of 2022.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at 11:00am at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Norwich.
