Obituary for Winifred A. Jackson
Winifred A. Jackson (Winnie), 64 of Mansfield Center went home to be with the Lord on Friday December 3, 2021. Born in Norwich on November 20, 1957 to the late Thomas & Nancy Godere. Winnie grew up in Lebanon and graduated from Lyman Memorial High School. After graduating, she worked at the American Thread Co. in Willimantic where she met her first husband Richard Parkes. Together, they welcomed three children into this world. In Winnie’s earlier years, she gave her heart and soul into making a house a home for her young family and caring for her three children. She was an avid crafter, had an impeccable talent for reupholstering furniture and was a great cook & baker. In the mid 1990’s she worked at the Cragin Memorial Library in Colchester. Winnie always had a smile on her face as she helped the local patrons. Winnie met Robert Jackson and started a new chapter in her life as he became her second husband. Together, they first lived at Lake Hayward in East Haddam, then moved to Lebanon and finally residing in Mansfield Center.
In Winnie’s most recent years, she was very active in her parish community. People who knew her during this time in her life described her as kind, thoughtful and always giving to others. Winnie is survived by her husband Robert Jackson and his extended family, son Richard Parkes and his wife Alison, daughter Ann and husband Michael Sypher, 4 grandsons Eivan Parkes, John Parkes, Joseph & Matthew Sypher. Winnie is also survived by her brothers & sisters, Jim (Laura) Godere, Paul (Sharon) Godere, Michael (Joanne) Godere, Emily (Raymond) Berry, Virginia (Mark) McGuire, Brian (Emily) Godere, Robert (Jodi) Godere and many extended family members. Winnie was predeceased by her parents, Thomas & Nancy Godere and her brother Steven Godere. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church 67 W Town Street in Lebanon. Burial will follow at Linwood Cemetery 235 Linwood Cemetery Road in Colchester.
